TWO


Two days. 


Woa. I nearly missed this one. It was a very late night last night as the collective worked into the small hours packing box after box after box of promotional material. All of this and more will be given away at AdeptiCon. So. Much. More.




We have flyers in the cornucopia that is AdeptiCon’s swag bag; these flyers are good for one of our free miniatures… but that is just the beginning. So. Much. More.

Tuesday morning the Kickstarter goes live. Come join us in this world between worlds!

THREE


Three Days.

In the spirit of that tremendous number, I would like to show you three 3D renders from our sculptor-at-large, Tim Barry. These fellas (we call them Venari) are currently in the prototype phase. They represent the very best/worst of the crowd control impulse. Some proper photos to follow in the coming days.




Our preparation both for the Kickstarter (April 1st!) and AdeptiCon (April 3-6!) are coming along beautifully. We are excited -tremendously excited.

FOUR


Four days.
 
The pieces of this grand puzzle are coming together very well. The image above arrived just last night from Jason Engle, and the remaining bits of our AdeptiCon materials have been shipping in from all parts. I have spent an intense week working with the stunningly talented Dark Templar on graphics for the rulebook. It is a tremendous feeling to have this all assembled and ready for proper presentation.

And to punctuate that thought, our dice prototypes arrived just the other day.

SIX

Six days.


In the run-up both to AdeptiCon and to the launch of our AETHERIUM KICKSTARTER (heyo!), we have been working without pause.

Of course, we are not alone. Particular gratitude for Ed over at Troll Forged Miniatures, who has made an extraordinary and superlative effort to ensure that we have all the prototypes to present a proper representation at the convention, and to give away free stuff.






Selected here are a few very cool photos of the wheels getting assembled and broken down. Each of these minis will be available in the AdeptiCon giveaway. As you can see, there's a lot.  Please come by the Harry Caray ballroom to collect yours.


For those of you not able to make the convention, no worries. We are working very hard to pack as many goodies into the Kickstarter as a small new company can.

SEVEN DAYS


In exactly one week, Anvil Eight Games will launch its first and only Kickstarter campaign for AETHERIUM.


Indeed.
 
The other weekend, we popped round to a friend’s studio to film a pair of videos for the launch. Coulter brought his camera and gadgets and we spent a crisp Chicago morning making the best of it. Thank you very, very much Coulter (what a legend!) for showing us the proverbial cinematic ropes.


Long time readers will recognize Tall Paul as modest but fundamental contributor to the Anvil Eight Games’ cause. The weeks before AdeptiCon would be nothing without him, and many readers will be relieved to know that his talents are still a force working for the side of glory and tremendousness. Likewise, our all-round design guru Mackenzie pulled through to represent the collective.


It was a curious experience. I, for one, am not enamored with the sound of my own voice played back to me. And I think I might be a little cross-eyed. All these years and nobody told me.  Ah well. Nevermind.


Though only four of us made it to the filming, there are more on hand. By all means, stop in the Harry Caray Ballroom (holy cow!) to see the entire collective putting this game through its proper AdeptiCon paces. It’s a chance to get in early on the glory.

Timely progress


Last week I mentioned that it has been an extraordinary pleasure watching all of this grand adventure come together. To take that thought one step further, this landed on our doorstep just last night. Funny how that happens.

All is coming along swimmingly for the big revelation. AdeptiCon is less than two weeks away and we will be there giving away free stuff. Lots of it.

PROGRESS




Progress indeed. We have been working on Aetherium for two years now. A lot has happened in that time. A. Lot. One of the greatest pleasures I have enjoyed in these past two years has undoubtedly been watching the evolution of a small, vulnerable idea as it becomes manifest in a grand and ambitious way.

In other words, I have enjoyed myself beyond reckoning while watching ideas like this:

You like? Come get a free prototype at AdeptiCon. We are boldly pushing forward. In a matter of mere weeks, we will be bringing an entirely new game-universe to the world. Oh man. Oh man. Oh man. 

From the word go, we have been aiming to make a top-tier game – we have been building this world quite literally from the ground up. The game is absolutely smashing through Beta playtesting. We have over 40 beautiful miniatures in the range and we are refining our process every single day. The idea is that by the time this reaches you (yes you), we will bring a highly evolved and progressive game to the table. Dare I say it… ?

Remote, Half-Glimpsed Realities



I have been letting the artwork trickle out a bit here and there on this blog, but it might be a good idea to stop and consider that for a moment.

…REMOTE HALF-GLIMPSED REALITIES


Anvil Eight Games is a particular mix of quirky individuals with a broad spectrum of experience. Each character brings something quite different in disposition from the others to the table, and this, we believe, is a good thing. Perhaps the only point at which we all overlap, however, is artwork. At Anvil Eight Games, we believe, quite vehemently, in the visualization of remote and half-glimpsed realities.


We have been working on the Aetherium project for nearly two years now. In that time, we have been studiously preparing a mass of artwork not only to create an exciting and unique line of miniatures, but also to realize more fully the world in which this game inhabits. Our goal is to present an entire world with space to grow, but with profound roots from which the universe might evolve: past, present, future.


Each of our collective vividly remember the hours and hours upon untold hours spent staring at the amazing artwork that accompanied the games we knew as kids. I’ve moved house a number of times in the last few years, and in one of those grand shifts, I found my tattered old Monster Manual from a bygone era. I paused from packing for a moment to flip through the volume that I had absorbed so much of my attention some 25 years or more ago, and was delighted to see that younger-me had colored in many of his favorite monsters. I had forgotten about that.

We have never really outgrown that phase.


We at Anvil Eight Games have been working with extraordinarily talented artists to make this dream a reality and, while these small offerings represent only the first timid steps down that path, our goal is that our product should be reminiscent of those quirky and captivating old rule and sourcebooks we remember with such powerful nostalgia.


There’s a lot of work here, and we've got quite a lot more to show you. I encourage you to get comfortable, to take some time, and to immerse yourself in this amazing set of creative extrapolations.
